Havre de Grace doesn’t take ship from nobody

Havre de Grace’s City Council was expected to hold a public hearing Monday night to discuss and vote on whether the city would be the future home of the USS Forrest Sherman, a retired Navy Destroyer without a home. But before the hearing was held, USS Forrest Sherman DD-931 Foundation Inc. decided to withdraw their proposal.
How do you feel about the proposed museum and battleship being docked in Havre de Grace? Did the Sherman foundation pull their proposal prematurely?

I AM SO IRRITATED AT THE CITY AND THE PEOPLE WHO KILLED THIS IDEA. This was a wonderful opportunity to expand on this city’s biggest asset, it’s tourism business, and it was shot down. Why? Because it would block someone’s view. A once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of history, to expand the view of the past, ruined because someone wanted a better view of the Amtrak Rail Bridge!!!!! THAT IS THE ONLY VIEW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BLOCKED!!!!!!!!!!! And this BS about the cities infrastructure not being able to handle the additional traffic. That never stopped us from approving the hundreds of homes (which by the way are mostly vacant). So we kill a huge revenue generator, for what I can find as no good reason. Does anyone even fathom the collateral revenue that has been killed because of this idiocy. All of those people who would come to tour the ship, usually eat. They like to walk, they like to shop, they like to sightsee. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE SELLING THIS TOWN AS, A TOURIST ATTRACTION. PEOPLE, I’M SORRY, BUT A LIGHTHOUSE, A BOAT MUSEUM AND A BUILDING FULL OF WOODEN DUCKS WILL ONLY CUT IT FOR SO LONG.
…what BigT said to a “tee”.
You can only pass-up rare opportunities so many times…
