Banning Off-Highway Vehicles in Harford County

UPDATE: Here is a website with more information about opposition to the bill

Listening to the Ed Norris Show today, they were having a discussion on a proposed bill by Roni Chenowith to ban all off-highway vehicles, such as ATVs, on all property, whether private or public, under 5 acres. The bill also appears to limit the hours in which off-highway vehicles can be used. Click on the image below to see the bill.

What are your felling on this issue? Should off-highway vehicles be banned from use on your own private property?

One Response to “Banning Off-Highway Vehicles in Harford County”

  1. Personally I do not own any off-road vehicles. I listened to the Ed Norris show INTENTLY.

The guest on that show, Gary made some very valid points. There should not be a ban, for many reasons.

Why should EVERY Harford County Property Owner lose rights to use their own property because of a problem eminating from one or two relatively small communities.

How long before an activity YOU enjoy is considered by some to be a nuisance and a law bannig it is created.

In all your years living in Harford County can you honestly say you could ever see a ban on Off Road Vehicles????

As to the Ed Norris Show, they took several calls, only one caller said " I can see a reason to SORT OF have the ban ". He then went on to describe a situation involving JEEPS used off road behind his property. These vehicles were TRESPASSING whis is already covered by CURRENT LAWS. Would a Ban on Off Road Vehicles have prevented a LEGALLY REGISTERED 4 Wheeler from running OFF ROAD ??? You’d be crazy to think so.

So that brings us to this point — If these vehicle are TRESPASSING on Dept Natural Resource s patrolled property, why are they NOT ENFORCING the law??????

The caller said " because the ATV the DNR uses to chase ATV’s is located in another county "

MY GOD with all the money O’Malley is spending cant they spring for a few ATV’s to ENFORCE CURRENT LAW ??????????

I am now involved in the drive to halt this ill conceived bill. You better believe if this bill or any variation passes I will use all resources to go after those council members who vote FOR this come election time. It is said that ‘ voters have short memory ". Well I do not and I will not allow anyone adversely affected by this law to forget it either.

IF YOU WANT TO PRESERVE YOUR RIGHTS AS A PROPERTY OWNER I URGE YOU TO SIGN THE PETITION AT …..
