Gas smell at Bynum Run Pond
For those of you like myself who are concerned about the gas smell hovering around Bynum Run Park, we’re encouraged not be alarmed by the sewage from the county that has run off into the pond.
The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company has responded to the area about three times in the past couple of weeks for what has been mistaken for a natural gas smell. There were two fire trucks there a little after noon on Friday because the area had a heavy gas odor.
Unless the signs that were “posted all over,” according to a BAVFC member, were placed after 1 p.m., there was nothing visible to inform passersby that the ongoing sewage spill problem was nothing to be worried about. Or, that the duck feces covering the sidewalk, that was bigger than what large dogs could produce was nothing to worry about either, in addition to the obviously polluted water. Too bad the site has been allowed to deteriorate over the years and it is no longer a clean, serene place to visit.
