Latest from the Board of Education Meeting Minutes

Here are a couple quick notes of interest from the Board of Education meeting held on August 6th, 2007:

  • Looks like school uniforms may be coming. A feasibility presentation was given, which calls for a 22-member task force for further investigation.
  • A report was given on increasing lunch prices by 20 cents. This was approved unanimously by the board.
  • The board is going to work on better communication with the public. I can think of a few ways the HarfordNow can help :)

Personally, I favor school uniforms. We aren’t talking about ties and plaid skirts here. The 20 cent increase in school lunches is disturbing. I would love to see the breakdown and justification for the new prices. As for better communication with the public, recognizing the problem is the first step. I actually think they are doing a great job with the phone system in place. We receive calls for pta meetings and other events for my daughter’s school, but I am unsure if this is standard across the county.
