The Aegis charges what for online news?
Did you know that you can read The Aegis online? That’s right, our fine county newspaper is available for online viewing just like the Baltimore Sun, the Washington Post, and even the Northeast Booster! If you are a print subscriber, you can add the online version for just $10.50/year. Huh?
That’s right, for just over ten dollars more a year, you can read online a small portion of the news you have already paid for and had delivered to your home. Oh, and if you don’t want to receive the paper and just read it online, it will run you $44.10/year. The same cost as the paper’s yearly subscription! So you are saving them printing costs, and they still are going to charge you full price. Never mind that almost every major, and even minor (see the Northeast Booster), newspaper publishes online for free. I cancelled my Baltimore Sun subscription long ago because I read it online.

When you put it that way… you save them on printing costs and they still charge you full price, it makes me say "huh" as well. It doesn’t make sense and can’t be thriving, at least that is my speculation. I am excited at the thought of reporting the news in my community from my point of view. Though the articles will be more opinionated, they will produce more conversations and thoughts, which is always welcome in my house!
