I was a bit excited when I first saw the sign with that very familiar, friendly, little green turtle. My first thought was… Green Turtle in Aberdeen? Being a Division I lacrosse player, I frequented the Green Turtle downtown and in OC, as it is considered a lax bar by many. And even though I have lived in Aberdeen for 5 years now, I would not consider it a lacrosse town.

This past weekend The Green Turtle opened it’s Bel Air location and I am sure that it did more than great business. And when I think of kids in Bel Air, I think of baggy mesh shorts, long shaggy hair, tattered collegiate t-shirts and lacrosse sticks. I admit that is very stereotypical of me, but I am being honest.

Now, when I think of Aberdeen, I think of football, swimming and wrestling, even though my kids are totally into soccer, lacrosse and swimming! But you know what? I bet The Green Turtle will soar at it’s Aberdeen location. With the influx of middle income, thirty something cooperate families, we need somewhere else to eat and have a drink besides the Applebee’s and Olive Tree!

Personally, I am so excited at the expected opening of The Green Turtle. The sign says fall of 2007 but I haven’t seen much progress, unless I am looking in the wrong direction. And I just hope that the sign is not "toying" with us hopeful Turtle’ goers in the Deen!
