How Is the Real Estate Market In Your Neighborhood Faring?

I have seen a disturbing trend in my neighborhood and other surrounding ones. Houses have been sitting on the market for over a year. Long-term prospects still should be pretty good for the county due to the influx of jobs and residents BRAC is expected to bring. But things are in a state of limbo right now.

When, if ever, is the housing market in the county going to catch steam again? And while I feel bad for those who are having such difficulty selling
their houses, is it too much to keep the yards looking nice?

  1. The houses in my neighborhood have been sitting on the market for months and months. I have not seen a sharp decrease in the asking prices for these homes, nor have I seen a large amount of inquiring buyers. Why haven’t they lowered their prices? Maybe they need to get a certain amount out of their homes, but the thought of holding 2 mortgages is scary. And how on earth can they qualify for 2 big 3000 plus dollar mortgages? I have noticed that there are many houses that are now advertising lease to own or rent possibilities. I hope that this whole BRAC thing gets moving soon and that the jobs start trickling down. I think that it will aid the housing market in Harford County.
